After a few years in the industry, he realized that many cosmetics and skincare manufacturers as well as marketers were manipulating and taking advantage of consumers with empty promises and false claims.

Concluding that such a practice is unacceptable, he established Charis Natural Lab in 1983, in Singapore to research, develop and manufacture a range of effective skincare products based solely on the goodness and efficacies of herbal ingredients. He allowed the products to speak for themselves and resisted from spending excessively on glossy packaging or celebrity endorsed advertisements.

This philosophy has remained true to this day where the customer has become the company's official spokesperson; testimonial to the large core base of loyal and satisfied customers from Australia, Canada, France Germany, Greece, Hong King. Kuwait, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan United Kingdom and the Untied States of America. The company's hard work was finally recognized when it was awarded the prestigious International Europe Award for Quality in 1993 and 1995.

These are followed with the International Award for the Best Trade Name and Commercial Prestige Award in 1997 and 2000 respectively.
